This contribution presents a project for the protection, management, exploitation and ecotourist fruition of the mills of the Amaseno Valley (Southern Lazio, Italy). The archaeological discoveries, mostly traceable through the study of toponimy, the analysis of historical maps and the survey campaign on the territory, testify the direct and close link between the inhabitants and the natural resources of the Valley. Analyzing the projects and the local socio-economic dynamics associated with them in a geo-historical perspective, it follows that the industrial plant has always represented an economic resource of strategic importance for the valley populations and still represents an icon to be protected and passed on to the future generation through forms of rural and cultural tourism.
