The National Library of Egypt is one of the most significant cultural centers devoted to the care of Arab and Islamic heritage, not only in Egypt, but all over the world. The library owes its prestigious standing to its cultural holdings featuring a wide range of papyr and manuscripts, as well as a collection of numismatics, covering a long time span, from the pre-islamic period through the Rashidun Caliphate in the 1st century AH/7th century CE to the present. The diversity of the library's collections has no counterpart in any national library in Africa or the Arab World
