Il Mediterraneo è una estensione geografica fatta di culture e patrimoni che si depanano da una matrice comune. I questo testo si parla di architettura in senso aperto: non intesa come edilizia, ma come costruzione del territorio, come risultato di processi che generano paesaggi unici. Testimoniare trent'anni di lavoro sul mediterraneo trova sostanza in almeno tre ragioni: la prima è data dagli spessori storici profondi e ricchissimi dei nostri patrimoni; la seconda consiste nella grande varietà e multifunzionalità di questi patrimoni; la terza riguarda l'aspetto delle grandi trasformazioni radicali, sia urbanistiche che econimiche che negli ultimi trent'anni hanno risvegliato un solido bisogno di acquisire coscienza del valire della funzione di questi patrimoni. Esistono due procedure fondamentali tese a descrivere e rappresentare questi luoghi: quella scientifica, legata a techniche di rappresentazione codificate, e quella pietica, legata al mito e al sogno. Entrambe sono presenti in questi trent'anni di disegni tra Palermo e Reggio Calabria = The Mediterranean Sea is a geographic extension made of cultures and heritages that spread from a common matrix. This paper deals with architecture in a wide sense: not as a building, but as construction of the territory, as a result of som processes that create fabulous landscapes. Testifying thirty years of work about Mediterranean Sea finds essence in at least in threes reasons: the first one is given by the deep historic substances and very rich of ours heritages; the second consists of the great variety and multitasking of these heritages; the third concerns of the great radical transformations, both urban and economical that in these thirty yeards have wake up again a solid necessity to acquire the integrity of the value and of the function of these heritages. There are two important procedures to describe and represent these kind of places: the scientific one, connected to codified methods of representations, and the poetical one, linked to the myth and the dream. Both are present in these thirty years of drawing between Palermo and Reggio Calabria.
